Amplify BIPOC Voices & Representation
in Mental Health Research
For far too long, people of color have been invisible and silenced in the design and research of effective mental health services. Traditional psychotherapies are often grounded in White, Euro-American cultural norms and practices which can seem foreign or irrelevant to BIPOC patients.
70% of clinical research study participants are white
Participants in Unmute's 15-week therapy program will be a part of a clinical research group to advance diversity and equity in mental health services. Participants will receive discounted therapy sessions and/or financial aid, check out our FAQs to learn more about the benefits!

We offer guidance throughout your therapy journey by sharing tips to make the most out of your therapy experience.
There are no embarrassing or weird questions to ask us, because we've been there too.

How We Approach
BIPOC Care
We strive for you to complete therapy and to equip you with the tools
and mindset to thrive
Unmute clinicians co-create treatment plans with you that are not only effective, but also culturally affirming, ensuring that your unique background and values are honored throughout your therapy journey
1. Culturally-Affirming
We recognize that our cultural identities can be a source of meaning, belonging, and joy. Unmute clinicians seek to harness cultural and community strengths to promote connection, healing, and well-being
2. Evidence Based
Our treatment is backed by research and tailored to BIPOC needs. We use empirically supported approaches to therapy, ones that are solution-focused and goal-oriented
3. Anti-Oppressive
We promote health equity and inclusion in therapy by addressing how racism and other forms of oppression may affect you and the care that you receive
4. Mindful
Unmute clinicians cultivate a stance of curiosity, openness, and nonjudgmental awareness of internal and external processes that may shape their reactions and interactions towards and away from equity and inclusion
